'Old Hollywood Glam' meets laid back vacation vibes adequately sums up Palm Springs. Iconic Hollywood stars like Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope and Dean Martin frequented the desert oasis. Bight colors, streets named after Hollywood greats, palm tree lined streets, magnificent hotels, shops and restaurants. Wes and I chose to do a little vacay there on my birthday weekend in June. Everyone plans vacations differently. We usually mix relaxation, with outdoor activities and yummy restaurants.

STAY

The Saguaro- This hotel screams iconic. Bright yellow, hot pink, orange, and neon green colors greet you when you walk into the lobby. The staff is warm and welcoming and couldn't be happier to help make your stay great! The rooms are spacious and have a cute little balcony overlooking the pool. On Saturdays, the pool hosts a DJ, giving it a low key Vegas feel. The pool has a full bar and their margaritas are bomb. Protip: We packed a cooler with tequila and snacks. The great part about this spot is that you can bring your own food and booze to the pool. Address: 1800 E Palm Canyon Dr, Palm Springs, CA 92264

EAT & DRINK

Ernest Coffee- Weston loves Stumptown Coffee from his days in Portland. When I found this local Palm Springs coffee shop that got their beans from Stumptown, I knew it would be the first coffee shop we hit up. It definitely didn't disappoint. I ordered a regular coffee that had so much flavor and he ordered a cold brew. We both said we would obvi come back here again when we are in Palm Springs! Address: 1101 N Palm Canyon Dr, Palm Springs, CA 92262

El Jefe - This cantina located inside of the Saguaro Hotel has a great happy hour and Taco Tuesday/Thursday. Since we were staying at the hotel it turned out to be a great place to grab breakfast. We ordered the avocado toast with a poached egg and enjoyed it poolside.

Address: 1800 E Palm Canyon Dr, Palm Springs, CA 92264

Sugar High- This cute little rooftop spot sits atop the well known restaurant Azucar. Weston and I are always suckers for a rooftop, a cocktail and tapas style food. This place was perfect! They have some amazing craft cocktails which are great after a long day at the pool in the sun. I ordered the Blood Orange Margarita and Weston sipped on the Palm Collins. The food served at Sugar High is made down in the Azucar kitchen. For an appetizer we ordered the hummus, which didn't really wow us. I would definitely try for the Brussel Sprout Salad or the Ahi Bruschetta. Protip: they have a happy hour that runs until 6:30pm. Also, it is a 21 and older restaurant and bar. Address: 339 S Belardo Rd, Palm Springs, CA 92262

Activities

Go on a hike- Most of the hikes that we looked up were pretty far out of town. In an attempt to be the heat, we wanted one that we could easily get to. Tahquitz Canyon Waterfall is about a 7 minute drive from the Saguaro Hotel. It is a 60 foot waterfall hike that takes about an hour to hike round trip. It was the perfect way for us to start our last day in Palm Springs. There are a couple negatives to this hike: it cost $12.50/person. The trail is only open from 7:30am-5pm, and they require each person have 1L of water/person.

Walk & Shop- the downtown Palm Springs area is super quaint and cute. It is very easy to walk it from end to end. There are tons of restaurants and shops to browse or grab a drink.

Relax by the pool- I would highly recommend choosing your hotel or Air BnB based on the pool they have. It is one of the best ways to spend your vacation. Relaxing, having a cocktail and taking a dip in the pool.

Round of Golf- Palm Springs has tons of fantastic golf courses you can play and feel like a real PGA pro!

Cheers!!! Happy vacationing!!!!! Can't wait to hear what you do on your next trip!!
